UITP is looking for a city to host the thousands of global public transport decision-makers, industry exhibitors and guests who will attend this high-profile international event. The Global Public Transport Summit regularly generates big revenue for its hosting city and country, with surveys showing that for every 1 euro in revenue earned by the host centre, up to 7 euros are generated in the local economy. As the host location of the 2017 UITP Summit, the city of Montréal estimates to generate more than 20 million euros in revenue.
The process to choose the 2021 UITP Summit local host, officially launched on 6 December, consists of a pre-qualification stage (December 2016-March 2017) and a bidding phase for short-listed applicants (March 2017-February 2018). A final decision will be made in Spring 2018. Applications to host the 2021 UITP Summit can be submitted by a single applicant or jointly by several organisations. The deadline for applications are due 3 March 2017.
